Dorothy Fields Whitmire, of Lexington, NC, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, December 9th, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on Saturday, July 10th,1943 to Johnnie Everett and Ruby Mozelle Andrews Fields. Dorothy lived a life full of love, kindness, and dedication to her family.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Jonathan Whitmire, and his wife Skylar. She was a cherished grandmother to Nicky Sigmon (Gary), Ryan Hodges (Priscilla), Ashley Hodges (Christian), Emma Whitmire, Tyler Whitmire, and Jackson Whitmire. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Caila Sigmon, Devin Sigmon, Mason Sigmon, Waylon Hodges, Layla Sanchez, Beckham Lawrence, and her great-great-grandson, River Dykes. Dorothy also leaves behind her son-in-law, Timothy Hodges, and her sister-in-law, Brenda Fields, who were both dear to her heart.
Dorothy was preceded by her husband Roy Eldon Whitmire, daughter Wendy Mechelle Hodges, brothers Jerry and Garland Fields, and sister in law Nonnie Fields.
Dorothy's life will be celebrated at a memorial service held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 13th, at Lakeview Memorial Park in Greensboro with Pastor Pablo Ayllon officiating. Family, friends, and all whose lives she touched are invited to gather in remembrance of her life.
A special thanks to Nicky and Gary Sigmon, Ashley Hodges and Kristin O'Leary for their loving care for Dorothy.

Dorothy will be missed by all who knew her, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her loved ones.
