Dorothy “Dot” Benson Walser, 94, of Bethamy Retirement Center in Spencer, passed away Thursday December 15, 2022.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday December 20, 2022 at Churchland Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Rev. John Huckaby and Rev. Doug McGee officiating services. A private burial will follow on Wednesday at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick Maryland.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 Monday December 19, 2022 at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.
Dot was born July 5, 1928 in York South Carolina to James Benson and Ellie Sutton Benson. Dot started working at North Carolina Finishing Company. Over the years she worked at several companies. She sewed the Upholstery for furniture and also helped her former husband Bill start the very first “Bills” Truck Stop. Dot was involved in several Senior Groups. They would have meetings and then go to lunch. Her church groups were Churchland, Coggins, Tyro and Arrington Heights. Dot loved her blue house that she built on High Rock Lake. She loved to entertain so she had Class Reunions, Church Baptisms and family picnics at her home. She always had a big smile and loved making people laugh. We will miss her Love and her laughter. BLESS HER HEART. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Ricky Walser and Billy Walser; a daughter, Tina Walser two brothers, Dwight Benson, and Cornelius Benson; a sister, Bea Jenkins; a grandchild, Kaylan Morgan; and her former husband Bill Walser.
Surviving is her Daughter Beverly Walser (Bill Clark) of Maryland; 8 grandchildren, Shasta Troupe, Lexa Troupe, Shana Moorefield, Kamren Morgan, Pam Walser, Shane Walser, April Walser and Shasta Walser; 2 great-grandchildren, Dylan Troupe and Raelyn Long; two special nieces, Judy Walser Maxwell and Patty Jenkins Palmer.
