Dottie Jean Isaacs Covert

Dottie Jean Isaacs Covert, 78, of Lexington, North Carolina, met Jesus peacefully on August 28, 2026, at Alderwood Hospice of Davidson County surrounded by her family who loved her dearly.

While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that she is now in the arms of Jesus.

Born on October 8, 1947, in Durham, North Carolina, Dottie was the daughter of the late Wilford Gordon Isaacs and Dorothy Lynn Bryson Isaacs.

A graduate of Lexington High School, Dottie continued her education at High Point College and Salisbury Business College. She dedicated many years of service to Davidson County Schools before retiring from the City of High Point, where she served as Administrative Assistant to the Fire Chief. Dottie was a faithful member of Reeds Baptist Church, where she joyfully sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and a Sister in Christ for many years. She made prayer shawls as her outreach to others. She was a member of the Lexington Red Hats Society, the Gardening Club, and the Secretary of the Davidson County Woodcarvers Association. Her faith was the center of her life, and she found great fulfillment in serving her church family.

She was an avid gardener, enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, and spent lots of time traveling. Some of her happiest moments were spent at her beach house and mountain house, surrounded by her family and creating treasured memories that will be cherished for generations. Dottie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

She shared 46 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Roland Wayne Covert.

In addition to her husband, survivors include her son, Kent Tysinger (Carla); her daughters, Lyndee Koonts (Keith) and Carol Aufderhar (Daniel); her grandchildren, Gracie K. Plott (Drew), Sydnie Koonts, Cameron Aufderhar, and Haley Covert; her great-granddaughter, Windsor Plott; her sister, Rosa Isaacs Dean; her nephew, Tommy Hampton (Sandy); and her niece, Debbie Bailey (Gary).

In addition to her parents, Dottie was preceded in death by her son, Joel Covert; her grandson, Nicholas Aufderhar; and her brother, Jimmie Ray Isaacs.

Dottie will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her dedication to her family, her strong work ethic, her impeccable style, and the kindness and warmth she shared with everyone she met. Her gentle spirit, generous heart, and enduring love for her family and friends leave a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2026, at Reeds Baptist Church, with Rev. Jerry Beck and Pastor Henry Watterson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Alderwood of Davidson County and to all of Dottie's caregivers who cared for her with such compassion, tenderness, and love. Your kindness, dedication, and support meant more to our family than words can express. Thank you for not only taking such wonderful care of Dottie, but also for caring for and comforting our entire family during this difficult journey. We will forever be grateful for the love and dignity you gave her in her final days.
