Douglas Wayne Apt

Douglas Wayne Apt, 82, of Lexington, North Carolina, passed away on January 18, 2026, at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.

Douglas was born on September 24, 1943, in Danville, Virginia, to the late Lewis P. Apt and Blanche Jones Apt. He worked for many years as a brakeman with Southern Railroad and was a member of Grace Alliance Church.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Mary Ann Fisher Apt; his sons, Jeff Apt (Robin), Dirk Apt (Teresa), and Jonathan Apt; his stepson, Kevin Fisher (Jaime); and his stepdaughters, Kristy Leonard (Everett) and Heidi Myer (Will). He is also survived by one grandchild, Torsten Apt.

A private burial will be held 1:00 PM January 30, 2026 in Danville, Virginia, with military honors.
