Douglas Eugene Briggs

Douglas E. Briggs was born February 17th, 1943 in Davidson County, NC to James Robert and Virginia Hedrick Briggs. He was a graduate of North Davidson High School. Doug was a retired master craftsman, he had a love for building and constructed many homes throughout Davidson and Forsyth counties and was well respected. Anyone that knew Doug would say he was the sweetest man, always wore a smile and would do anything to help anyone in need. He loved his family, supported his wife, each of his children, grand-children and great-grand-children in any way that he could. He loved attending their sporting events, where he was their biggest fan. Some of his favorite past times was being with his boys at High Rock Lake and spending each day with his best friend and wife, Fran. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel with the Rev. Tim Sapp officiating. A visitation will be held Friday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Surviving are his best friend and wife of 38 years, Fran Briggs of the home; sons, Danny Briggs and wife Deborah, Jeffery Briggs and fiancé Jennifer Stokes and daughter Angela Pinnix. Two grand-daughters whom he raised, Stephanie Gillen and husband Ray, Amanda Latour and husband David; grand-daughters, Lauren Henderson and husband Jacob, Ali Briggs and Emma Briggs; great-grand-children, Madison, Ray and Christina Gillen, Kegan Latour and Linley Henderson; sisters, Thelma “Pete” Hinkle, Janice Warner and husband Lonnie, Brenda Leonard and husband Billy. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, James Robert and Virginia Hedrick Briggs, a brother Bruce Briggs and an infant brother. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
