Douglas Wayne Tetter, 86, of Winston Salem, North Carolina, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on the morning of January 27, 2026, at his home.
Douglas was born on September 30, 1939, to the late Carl Tetter and Mary Gallimore Ader. He retired from AT&T, where he worked for over 30 years as a computer programmer, allowing him to retire early before the age of 50. Douglas loved the Lord and enjoyed spending his free time playing golf, doing puzzles, traveling to the beach, and seeing and collecting lighthouses.
In addition to his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by his infant daughter; two brothers, Donnie Tetter and Bill Ader; a sister, Sylvia Hutchings; and two nephews, Mark Tetter and Wayne Albert Hutchings Jr.
Douglas is survived by his three loving sons, Ronald Tetter; Randall Tetter (Kelly); and Rodney Tetter (Gina); his stepdaughter, Dana Shoaf (Bucky); and his grandchildren, Mindy Tetter-Malcuit (Jason), Cherish Taylor, Jessica Taylor, Justin Tetter, Emily Tetter-Martin (Justin), Brandon Tetter, Madison Tetter (Alex), Josh Shoaf (Maya), and Nicholas Shoaf. He is also survived by many special great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and last but not least, his very dear and loving ex-wife, Connie Hampton Tetter.
The family will hold a private graveside service at 2pm, February 4, 2026, at Forest Hill with Rev. David Langley officiating, to celebrate Douglas’s life.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul… Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” — Psalm 23
