Dow Wesley Hale

July 9, 1933 — April 17, 2014

Dow Wesley Hale, 80, of Davis Drive, died Thursday, April 17, 2014, at his home following declining health of 16 years.  The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ralph Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in Victory Baptist Church, Dyker’s Creek Road. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8p.m. Monday, April 21, at the funeral home.  Mr. Hale was born July 9, 1933, in Johnson City, Tenn., to Dow William Hale and Nellie Clark Hale. He was retired from PPG and a member of Victory Baptist Church. Mr. Hale served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict and is a member of VFW Post 3074. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Fleenor Hale; and a brother, Ben Hale.  Surviving are son, Darrell Hale and wife Penny of Lexington; daughters, Edna Hale and husband Gary of Linwood, Doris Haywood and husband Roger, Debbie Justice and husband Brian, all of Lexington, Kathy Sue Carver, Patty Jo Hartman, and Lisa Gail Hale, all of Johnston City, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Randy Odom, Bobbie Jo Smith, JoAnna Smith, Scottie Pressley, Amanda Leonard, Kimberley Nasi, and Sandra Queen; and 10 great-grandchildren.  Memorials may be made to Victory Baptist Church, 812 Dykers Creek Road, Lexington, NC 27295; or Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
