Dr. Robert "Bobby" Odom

Dr. Robert “Bobby” Eugene Odom, age 78 of Calvin Sowers Road, Lexington went home to be with the Lord Tuesday afternoon July 14, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist, Lexington Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday at First Baptist Church of Welcome, where he was a member with Rev. Mark Blair officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday night. Robert was born in Alexander County, NC June 30, 1937 to Marshall Ervin and Sally Walker Odom. He was a Southern Baptist Minister and retired after serving churches in Virginia and North Carolina. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Leon Odom; sister, Bea Wallace; brothers, Dennis and Ronald Odom. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife of 59 years, Virginia Berrier Odom of the home; daughters, Crystal Hepler (Kevin) of Troutville, VA and June Dixon (Brad) of Kernersville; sons, Dale Odom (Annette) of Lexington and Troy Odom of Cocoa, Florida; 6 grandchildren, Nicholaus Odom, Stephanie Wade, Racheal Hepler, Kyle Hepler, Caleb Odom and Ashlynn Odom; 3 great-grandchildren, Dylan Odom, Jaxton Wade and Braydon Odom; sister, Aileen Lyon of Lexington; brother, Tommy Odom of Port St. Lucie, Florida; former daughter-in-law, Sheila Odom Wilgus.
