Dr. Wallace B. Butler Sr., 94 of Welcome, NC, died Friday, May 5, 2023, peacefully at his home with his loving wife by his side. A funeral service will be held at 4pm Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Bethesda United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Janet Dixon. His burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Monday May 8, 2023, at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington, NC. Dr. Butler was born October 14, 1928, in Caswell County, NC to William Edward Butler Sr. and Valinda Satterfield Butler. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where he earned his “Doctor of Dental Surgery.” Dr. Butler opened the first Dental Practice in Welcome, NC and practiced for 49 years. He was a long active member in his community, was a member of the Welcome Lions Club and Gideons International. He was also a longtime member of Bethesda United Methodist Church and served as a delegate to the Western NC Conference for many years. He was active in the NC Dental Society, where he served as President and Secretary of the 2nd District. Dr. Butler’s true passion was spending his extra time outdoors working on his farm and caring for his animals. His son, W.B. Butler, Jr. and his daughter, Lisa Butler Kepley, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Judith Zimmerman Butler of the home; his daughter Stacey Butler Davis of the home, his son Paul Edward Butler of Welcome and his daughter Lydia Butler Hill of Welcome; his brothers, Jerry Butler (Cinda) of Mebane, and Jeff Butler (Aida) of N. Myrtle Beach, SC; his sisters, Valinda Feather of Fairfax, VA, Juanita Bell of Burlington, and Marie Ammons of Virginia Beach, VA; twelve grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial should be made to Davidson Medical Ministries, PO Box 584, Lexington NC 27293, Path of Hope, 1675 E. Center St. Ext, Lexington NC 27292 or to the donor’s choice.
