It is with great sorrow that we announce Drake Donovon Shinabarger, 28, of Clemmons, North Carolina, passed away on April 12, 2026. Born on August 7, 1997, in Carson City, Michigan, Drake lived a life marked by service, adventure, and an unwavering dedication to his family and community.
Drake proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, where he was part of the Airborne division. His commitment to protecting and serving others extended beyond his military career as he later joined the High Point Fire Department and the High Point Police Department. In each role, Drake exemplified leadership through his actions, inspiring those around him with his humble confidence and ability to bring calmness to even the most chaotic situations. His energy and supportive nature touched everyone he met.
Outside of his professional life, Drake was a man of many passions. He had a deep appreciation for guns and knives, and enjoyed outdoor activities such as hiking and camping. A lover of movies of all kinds and video games, he found joy in immersing himself in stories and adventures. Drake’s enthusiasm for "all things nerdy" was evident in his love for the Renaissance Fair and "The Lord of the Rings." Above all else, he cherished spending time with his wife Abigail and their son Cassius. Whether playing with their beloved dogs—Sadie, Slade, and Tank—or simply enjoying family moments together, Drake’s greatest joy came from being with those he loved.
Drake’s sense of humor and playful spirit brought laughter to everyone who knew him. He had a unique ability to brighten any room with his silly antics while maintaining a grounded presence that inspired trust and admiration. His legacy is one of kindness, empathy, and strength.
Drake is survived by his loving wife, Abigail Shinabarger; their son, Cassius Shinabarger; mother, Brenda Shinabarger; grandmother, Betty Shinabarger; uncle, Lyle (Cheryl) Shinabarger Jr.; as well as numerous cousins, family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lyle Shinabarger.
