Dwight Lee Hedrick Sr., 90, of Jerusalem Road, died Monday, May 9, 2011, at Wake Forest Baptist Health — Lexington Medical Center after a sudden illness.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Memorial United Church of Christ by the Rev. David Burgess. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Mr. Hedrick was born March 4, 1921, in Davidson County to Thurman Lee Hedrick and Letha Beck Hedrick. He was a retired co-owner of Hedrick & Hedrick Lumber Co. and was also a farmer. He was a member of Memorial United Church of Christ, where he served on the consistory of the church and building and grounds and cemetery committees. Mr. Hedrick was a former member of the Linwood Lions and Linwood School Advisory Board. Preceding him in death was his first wife, Beulah Maxine Canoy Hedrick; a daughter, Linda Maxine Hedrick; one great-grandchild, Seth Lee Hedrick; five brothers, Paul Clifton Hedrick, Harold Foil Hedrick, Thurman Lee “TL” Hedrick, John Hoyle Hedrick and Odell Andrew Hedrick.
Surviving are his wife, Stevie Huss Hedrick of the home; three sons, Dwight Hedrick Jr., and wife Kathy and Stanley Hedrick and wife Donna, all of Lexington, and Wilborn Roberson and wife Martha of Winchester, Va.; a daughter, Patricia Palmer and husband Don of Lexington; nine grandchildren, Daria Westervelt and husband Mark, Jeff Jones and wife Patricia, Brandy Conrad and husband Brandon, Jason Hedrick and wife Michelle, Scott Hedrick and wife Sheila, Joanna Myers and husband Ray, Holt Roberson, Michael Roberson and Sarah Roberson; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charlie Jefferson Hedrick and wife Sarah of Lexington; a sister, Helen Wilson of Salisbury; and sisters-in-law Josephine Hedrick and Ruth Hedrick, both of Lexington.
