E J Hanes, Jr.

E. J. Hanes, age 71 of Sandhurst Drive, Clemmons, beloved father and grandfather passed away unexpectedly Thursday (Sept. 9, 2010) at his home. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel on Sunday (9-12-2010) from 4:00 until 6:00 pm and at other times at the home of son Brian, 3226 N. NC Highway 150, Lexington. E. J. was born in Davidson County on October 16, 1938 to Elmer James Hanes, Sr. and Ruth Pickett Hanes. He was owner and President of E J Hanes Construction, Inc. He was a successful entrepreneur and businessman. He will be truly missed by his family and many friends. He served his country in the US Air Force. He was preceded in death by his father. Surviving are; his mother Ruth Pickett Hanes of Lexington; two daughters, Loye Vaughan of Clemmons and LaRue Creson and husband Jeff all of Advance; two sons, Brian Hanes and wife Angie of Lexington, Brent Hanes and wife Susan of Conway, SC; four brothers, Robert Hanes and wife Mary, Jerry Hanes and wife Trina, Bobby Hanes and wife Donna all of Lexington and Don Hanes and wife Pat of Linwood; six grandchildren; Joseph, Bailey, Dylan, Ian, Taylor and Logan; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to Winston Salem Rescue Mission 717 Oak Street, Winston Salem, NC 27101
