A wonderful man’s life ended Wednesday, August 27, 2008. E J Wagner, 81 of Pauline Drive, Lexington has been in declining health for the past few years. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Bethesda United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Hochmuth officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. E J graduated from Welcome High School and attended High Point University. He served in the US Marines during World War II, the owner of Dixie Tire Co. and was owner and a broker with Wagner Realty. He also developed Brandon Acres of Thomas Rd., Lexington and Lorie Belle Lane of Tyro. E J was an avid gardener and planted many trees during his life time. He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, a member of Amvet Post 760 in Welcome and a former Charter Member of Welcome Lions Club. He was preceded in death by one brother, Monroe Wagner, three sisters, Louise Walton, Grace Thomas and Ruby Wagner. Surviving are his wife of 61 years Roberta Wagner of the home, two sons, David Wagner of Winston-Salem, Kenneth Wagner and his wife Delores of Clemmons. Four grandchildren, Brandon Wagner of Lexington, Jill Wagner of Los Angeles, Ca., Lorie Shelton and her husband Will of Lewisville, Angela Wagner of Clemmons. One great-grandchild, Jacob Shelton and one brother, Jessie Wagner and his wife Elsie. A visitation will follow immediately after the burial. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to the Life Center of Bethesda United Methodist Church, 2922 Bethesda Road, Lexington, NC 27295 or to the donor’s choice. His family will love honor and cherish a wonderful man, always. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is serving the family.
