Earl Frederick Johnson

  Earl Frederick Johnson, age 99 of Hillside Drive, Lexington passed away Saturday night, June 17, 2017 at WFB Lexington Medical Center. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Forest Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Tommy Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 12:30 until 1:30 PM prior to the graveside. Earl was born in Erie County, New York December 9, 1917 to Earl G. Johnson and Clara Hasfurter Johnson. He retired from Westinghouse Electric at the age of 60 and moved to Lexington where he worked with John Saunders at The Lawn and Garden Center for 20 years and finally retired at age 80. He had 20 years of Activities and Friendship at the Lexington Senior Center and entertained many with his Harmonica. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He served his country in the US Army during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 8. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sue Galloway Johnson; sisters, Gladys Guido, Pearl Johnson, Erma Mason, Mildred Brege, Mabel Weinsheimer and Esther Fisher; brothers, Richard, Charles and Melvin Johnson. Surviving are his daughter, Linda Saunders and husband John of Lexington; granddaughter, Leigh Saunders Brame and husband Greg and great-grandson Grayson Brame all of Raleigh; brother, Irvin Johnson of Newport Richey, FL.
