Earley Rufus Hopkins Jr., 84, of Hazelwood Court, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Hinkle Hospice House.
A Funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday at Meadowview Reformed Presbyterian Church with Pastor Chris Bitterman officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park with Military Graveside Rites by Davidson County Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Friday March 16, 2012 at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Mr. Hopkins was born March 12, 1927 in Patrick County, VA to Earley Rufus Hopkins, Sr. and Beulah Wright Hopkins. A retired truck driver for Spector Redball, he was a member of Meadowview Reformed Presbyterian Church. He was a Veteran of the US Army and a member of Teamsters Central State Local #28, Spartanburg, SC.
Surviving are his wife, Dottie Puckett Hopkins of the home; two sons, Kenneth Wayne Hopkins, William Lane Hopkins and wife, Michelle both from Lexington; three daughters, Cheryl Dull and husband, Ray of Lexington, Carolyn Brockman and husband, Jerry of Southmont, Brenda Brodgon and husband, Robert of Winston-Salem; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, 15 step great grandchildren; two brothers, James (Jim) Hopkins and wife, Virginia of Stuart, VA, Harold Hopkins and wife, Betty of Charlotteville, VA; two sisters, Betsy Hughes and Nancy Smart and husband, Fred both of Stuart, VA.
