It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Earley Owens, a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, who departed this life on Monday, February 17th, 2025, at the age of 81. A longtime resident of Winston-Salem, NC, Earley was born on Sunday, January 9th, 1944, to the late James Earley Owens and Rosie Ellen Owens.
Earley spent his professional life as a dedicated truck driver with Consolidated Freight, where he was respected for his hard work and reliability. Outside of his career, Earley had a deep love for dogs, who were steadfast companions throughout his life.
Earley is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 60 years, Genevieve Owens of Winston-Salem; his daughter Robin Sears and her husband Randy of Lexington; his sisters Linda Kay Craven and Brenda Sue Beck, both of Winston-Salem; and his cherished grandchildren Michael Sears, Courtney Sears, and Cameron Sears, all residing in Lexington. He is predeceased by his parents, James and Rosie Owens.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Earley touched are invited to a special time of remembrance. He will lie in state at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel on Monday, February 24th, 2025, from 9 am to 11 am. A graveside service will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens at noon, presided over by Pastor Danny Smith, offering an opportunity for those who loved him to pay their last respects.
Earley's absence leaves a void that can never truly be filled, but his memory will forever be cherished by all who knew him. His legacy of love, fairness, and loyalty will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
