Earlie (Bud) Leonard Koontz Jr., 66 of Brown Street Lexington died Friday at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Clyde Akers and burial will be at 1:00 pm
at Salisbury National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
Bud was born in Davidson County June 26, 1941, to Earlie Leonard Koontz, Sr. and Willie Mae Clement Koontz. He attended Freedom Baptist Church, a retired employee of Norandal Aluminum Company, member of VFW Post 3074 and American Legion Post 8. He was an instructor for US Army Engineers at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, served two tours in Vietnam before retiring from the US Army after 20 years of service.
He is survived by his wife; Carrie Coleman Koontz of the home, Sons: Rodney Koontz and wife Alice and Chris Koontz and wife Jamie all of Lexington and Greg Koontz and wife Tammie of Hanover, Maryland, Six Grandchildren; Travis Koontz, Cory Koontz and Hunter Koontz all of Lexington, Brittney Koontz, Jordan Koontz and Matthew Koontz all of Maryland, one sister; Linda Goins of Lexington and one brother; John Gilbert Koontz of Lexington.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 until 8 pm at Davidson Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
