Earnest "Tommy" Kinney

Earnest Thomas “Tommy” Kinney, 83, went home to be with his Lord and savior, Friday, August 25, 2017, at his residence on Lowell Street.  The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Hughes Grove Baptist Church in Thomasville with Pastor John Hill officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.  Mr. Kinney was born July 11, 1934, in Davidson County, to Arthur Kinney and Minnie Smith Kinney. He served in the U.S. Army and was retired from Lexington Furniture Industries where he was a finisher for many years. After retirement he enjoyed working with Wal-Mart of Lexington in the Sporting goods department for 10 years.  Surviving are his loving wife, Betty Lou Waller Kinney of the home; sons, Gregory Scott Kinney (fiancé Lyrissa Moore) and Christopher Kinney (special friend Lisa Brown), all of Lexington; grandchildren, Matthew Kinney, Lauryn Kinney (special friend Kaleb), Joshua Kinney (fiancé Keri), Austin Kinney, and Cameron Kinney; step-grandchildren, Derick Moore, Alisha Cobbler, Miranda Moore and Brittany Whitner; and 10 great-grandchildren.  Memorials may be directed to Hughes Grove Baptist Church, 547 Hughes Grove Church Rd, Thomasville, NC 27360; or Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
