Easter Combs Martin, 77, of Delta Street, died Friday, May 8, 2009, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem after a serious illness of one week.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2009, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, by the Rev. Ralph Byrd. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mrs. Martin was born March 27, 1932, in Wilkes County to William and Nancy Lucinda Owens Combs and was a member of Christ Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and loving mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, Charles R. Martin, whom she married May 12, 1956, of the home; a daughter, Kim M. Wehrle and husband, Bruce, of Lexington; a son, Dr. Greg Martin and wife, Pam, of Davidson, NC; two grandchildren, Callie Martin and Addison Martin, of Davidson, NC; one brother, George Combs and wife, Mae, of Roaring River, NC, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Elsie Willard, Idesta Byrd and Leigh Combs; and three brothers, William “Bill” Combs, Elmer Combs and Bruce Combs.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. prior to the service in the visitation room of the funeral home.
