Leonard Edsel “Ed” Gordon, age 84 of Gordon Drive, Winston Salem passed away Wednesday at Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation in Thomasville.
A celebration of his life will be held at 4:00 pm Friday (May 9, 2014) at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel with Rev. Wale Abe officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
Ed was born in Pilot Mountain, NC March 27, 1930 to Arthur Eugene and Audrey Denny Gordon. He attended Lexington Senior High School and graduated from Riverside Military Institute in Gainesville, Florida and from Piedmont Bible College in Winston Salem. He was a member of Enterprise Moravian Church. Ed loved fishing and ministering to others, especially those in nursing homes. Ed is survived by his, wife, Mary Ellen Griffin Gordon; daughters, Lynn Gordon Weaver (Jeff) of Winston Salem and Deirdre Gordon Philpott of Lexington; son, Mark Leonard Gordon; sister, Jessie Gordon Myers; grandchildren, Jennifer Crow (Gary) Whitney Curry (Bradley), Matthew Gordon, Stephen Weaver (fiancé Cassie) Joshua Weaver and Harry Philpott; great-grandchildren, Karissa Ellis, Dylan Ellis, Kason Curry and Reece Curry; sister-in-law, Elaine Blackwelder and Patricia Reed.
