Ed Holt

Lawrence Edwin "Ed" Holt, 74, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Lexington Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Center United Methodist Church, where he was a member, by the Honorable Jimmy Myers. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Holt was born April 29, 1935, in Davidson County, to John D. Holt and Pearl Mae Williams Holt. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, was a retired Davidson County Sheriff's deputy and a member of the Davidson County Marine Corps League. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Scott Holt. Surviving are his wife, Carthena Merritt Holt of the home; Tara Wood and her husband, Dan, Starr Hill and her husband, Mike, and Sandra Norris and her husband, Chip, all of Lexington; five grandchildren, April Wood Berg and her husband, Jeff, Allen Hill, Autumn Hill, Anderson Norris, and Aaron Norris, all of Lexington; three great-grandchildren, Alexis Berg, Alexander Berg, and Anthony Berg, all of Lexington; and a sister, MeEtta Biesecker of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
