Edgar James

February 18, 1943 — June 29, 2006

Edgar "Jock" James, 63, of Old Mill Farm Road, died Thursday, June 29, 2006, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Good Hope United Methodist Church by the Rev. Chris Bennett. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. James was born Feb. 18, 1943, in Davidson County to Lemuel James and Ada Mae Weaver James. He worked for the Davidson County Sanitation Department and served his country in the U.S. Army. Surviving are his wife, Brenda Freedle James of the home; two daughters, Lori James Burris and her husband, Darren, and Janet James Vinson and her husband, Bobby, all of Reedy Creek; four granddaughters, Amelia Griffin, Brittany Vinson, Katlin Vinson and Whitney Burris, all of Reedy Creek; one brother, Henry James and his wife, Gaynelle, of Reedy Creek; and one sister, Eleanor Walser of Reedy Creek. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel, and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
