Edgar Lee Shell, 82, of Grayland Street, Lexington passed away Thursday January 17, 2013 at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, January 21, 2013, at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Preacher Clyde Akers officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Mr. Shell was born December 24, 1930 in Lenoir, NC to James Robert Shell and Ethel Mae Blankenship Shell. He was retired from Vacar Battery. Preceding him in death was his parents and a son, Anthony Lee Shell June 8, 2009.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Byrd Shell of the home; three sons, Barry Wayne Shell of Winston Salem, Ricky Gray Shell, Edgar Allen Shell both of Lexington; two daughters, Diane Willett and husband, Ray of Gibsonville, NC, Teresa Jean O’Neill of Lexington; 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Perman Levi Shell and wife, Alice of Lexington and Gary Warren Shell and wife, Kay of Winston-Salem.
