Edgar Lee Strickland, Jr., 80, of Green Hill Apartments, Lexington, died Saturday in Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Lyndon Johnson. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Strickland was born January 15, 1926 in Davidson County to Edgar Lee Strickland, Sr. and Mattie Martin Strickland. He was a retired employee of Dacotah Cotton Mill and also Bill’s Truck Stop. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Everhart Strickland, a son, Ronnie Strickland, step son, Tommy Everhart, 3 brothers, Haywood Strickand, Robert Strickland, Arthur Strickland and 2 sisters, Lurline Cole and Mozelle Ashby.
He is survived by his sons: Tim Strickland, Mark Strickland and Danny Strickland, all of Lexington; his daughter, Peggy Strickland; a step daughter, Cindy Everette, 10 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME and other times at the home of the son, Tim Strickland, Dearr Dr., Lexington.
