Edith Barber

: Edith Crook Barber age 90 of W. 5th Ave., Lexington died Thursday February 23, 2006 She was born October 3, 1915 in Davidson County to John Wilson Crook and Pearl Smith Crook. She was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ and worked for many years as a nurse for Dr. Jake Leonard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harris H. Barber, who died March 26, 1981. She is survived by a son,John Barber, and wife, Bettie of Lexington , a daughter June Barber Craver and husband, Bruce of Lexingtonand grandchildren Sara March Barber of Winston Salem, Carolyn Longest of Midlothian, VA, and Betsy Pace of Knoxville, TN and Lynn Brandon of Talledega, AL. and 5 great grandchildren along with a sister Sarah Goforth of Florida. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday at First Reformed United Church of Christ conducted by Rev. Mike Hooper. A private inurnment service will be held at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service in the Church Sanctuary and other times at their respective homes. Memorials may be made to First Reformed United Church of Christ, 104 E.
