Edith Whitaker Hethcox, age 82, made her transition to her heavenly home on Thursday night at Shannon Gray in Jamestown. She gave us all a blessed Thanksgiving Day. She was born on March 15, 1930 in Yadkin County to Sidney and Rebecca Vestal Whitaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Hethcox. They previously resided in the Arcadia area. She was also preceded in death by her young son David Russell Thompson and eight siblings. She is survived by her daughter Ann T. Everidge of Arcadia, her sister, Dot Overman and husband Raymond of High Point, three grandchildren, Amy Lane and husband Billy of Greensboro, Andy Alcon and his late wife Bridgett of Concord and David Corbett Everidge and his wife Liz of Stokesdale, six great-grandchildren, Katie and Casey Lane, Russell, Carly, Cole and Makensie Alcon, and several nieces and nephews. Edith was known as Edie or Nanny by the numerous children she lovingly cared for during her lifetime. She touched the lives of so many families as a devoted Christian caretaker. She taught her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and every other baby and child she knew about Jesus and unconditional love. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, November 26, 2012 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel with Rev. Joe McWethy presiding. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel.
