Edith Smith Leonard, age 98 of Lexington passed away Friday, December 13, 2013 at Lexington Health Care. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm on Monday, December 16, 2013 at Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor John Woods and Landon Grant officiating. The family will not have a formal visitation. Edith was born April 16, 1915 in Forsyth County to David Nelson Smith and Mattie Nifong Smith. She was a member of Midway United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women Sunshine Club. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Willie Alex Leonard, brother; Henry Smith (Arlene), sisters; Doris Hines (Rockford), Frances Hines, grandchild; Allen Wall. Surviving are her son; William R. Leonard (Peggy) of Lexington, daughters; Mildred Louis Wall and JoAnn Elizabeth Bodenhamer and friend Dan Scism both of Lexington, Janice E. Wagner (Dale) of Morganton, NC, six grandchildren; Roger Wall, Teresa Kirksey (Lee), Mike Wagner, Angie Nifong (Greg), Jackie B. Raynor, Greg Bodenhamer (Angie) and five great grandchildren; Heather Reid (Zane), Landon Grant (Natalie), Megan Kirksey, Heather Valentine, Zachary Wagner, Miles Kirksey and great great grandchildren; Caleb, Brodie, Aubrey, Mia, Mackenzie and Lacey, brother inlaw; Donald Hines. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
