Mrs. Edith Smith Myers, 93, of Lexington died Saturday, June 17 at Davidson Health and Rehab with family by her side.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm Thursday, June 22 at Jersey Baptist Church in Lexington, by the Rev. Darrell Cartrette. Burial will follow in church cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center at the church from 12:30 to 2pm prior to the service.
Edith was born November 29, 1929 in Davidson County to David Reid Smith and Lala Feezor Smith. She worked for 20 years managing food services at Central Davidson Middle School and another 20 years as a seamstress doing alterations for the public and Dawn’s Bridal Shop. She was a lifelong member of Jersey Baptist Church, an avid quilter, knitter, reader, and nature lover.
Her husband of fifty-three years, Hubert Don Myers, and her infant twin daughters, Sandra Kay and Linda Fay Myers, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sons, Charles Myers and Donald Myers (Fran), both of Lexington, and Irvin Myers (Lisa) of Mocksville; her daughter, Joyce Boyles (Michael) of Apex; her brother, David Smith (Barbara) of Raleigh; and her grandchildren, Nathan Myers, Angie Hanks Akers (Justin), Darren Hanks (Sara), Julie Boyles, Travis Myers (Kaitlin) and Steven Myers (fiancée, Rachael); and her great-grandchildren, Gracey McFarland, Leah Bowers, Madisyn Hanks, Jordan Hanks, Xander Akers, Allisyn Hanks, Austen Grace Myers, and Boone Shepherd Myers; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Davidson Health and Rehab (formerly Alston Brook) for their compassionate care over the years.
