Edith Walser Shoaf

Edith Walser Shoaf, 95, of Norman Shoaf Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at her home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Beulah United Church of Christ, where she was a member, by the Revs. Benn Fleming and Dale Kennedy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Shoaf was born July 25, 1912, in Davidson County to Oscar Walser and Mamie Jenkins Walser. She was a graduate of Churchland High School. She was married to Norman Olin Shoaf, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were brothers Ray Walser, George Walser and Bill Walser, half-brother Odell Walser, and sisters Viola Darr, Gladys Childress, Florence Jones and Lucille Brooks. Surviving are a son, Mack Shoaf and his wife, Peggy; grandchildren Todd Shoaf and his wife, Rosa, of Midway and Liz "Sissy" Shoaf of Winston-Salem; great-grandchildren Dania Sofia Shoaf and Loucas Todd Shoaf; a brother, Bobby Walser of Linwood; and a sister, Etta Allen of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church fellowship hall prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, P.O. Box 1941, Lexington, NC 27293.
