Edith Ward Truitt, 92, of John Ward Road, Lexington died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at High Point Regional Hospital. The funeral will be 11 am Friday at Pilgrim Reformed Church with the Rev. William Sowers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013 at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at their respective homes. Mrs. Truitt was born January 2, 1921, in Davidson County, to John Ward and Lottie Fritts Ward. She was a retired Supervisor from Manhattan Shirt Co. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, David P. (Doc) Truitt; brothers, Buford Ward, Edward Ward, Dan Gray Ward, and Archie Ward; and sisters, Jacqueline Farabee and Kaye Everhart. Surviving are a son, David P. Truitt, Jr. (Shirley) of Fayetteville; two daughters, Shirley Truitt Erath Conrad (John) of High Point, Loretta Truitt Burton (Larry) of Thomasville; nine grandchildren, Reina Moseley of Kernersville, Dr. Stacy Dembitsky (Michael) of Lexington, SC, Ron James (Mary) of Salem, VA, Deborah James of High Point, Michael Erath (Elizabeth) of New Albany, Ohio, Angela Burton (Kevin Odell) of Chapel Hill, NC, Rodney Burton (Lee Ann), Melinda Burton both of Thomasville, Dr. Scott Burton (Melanie) of Salisbury; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, John Ray Ward (Dorcas) of Lexington; sisters, Ruth Jolly, Doris Hedrick (Willis), both of Lexington, and Mary Workman (David) of Thomasville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pilgrim Reformed Church, 797 Pilgrim Church Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
