Edna Barnes

Edna Foster Barnes, 97, formerly of Midway, died Saturday, November 24 at Brookridge Healthcare of Winston Salem.    A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday November 27, 2018, at Oak Forest United Methodist Church in Midway by the Rev. Julie Wilburn Peeler.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park in Lexington.    The family will receive friends from 11:30 pm to 12:30 pm Tuesday at the church.   Mrs. Barnes was born May 27, 1921 in Davidson County to John Philip Foster and Lelia Shuler Foster. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Oscar “Guy” Barnes, three brothers, Irving Foster, Roscoe Foster and John Foster, and three sisters, Lenora Sowers, Mamie Harris and Grace Futrell.    She is survived by her sons, Guy P. Barnes and wife Connie of Madison, and David L. Barnes and wife Robin of Lewisville; her grandchildren, Alisha Hills and husband Chuck of Trinity N.C. and Nathan  Barnes and wife Melanie of Mayodan; two great grandchildren, Brayden Barnes and Avery Barnes, and several nieces and nephews.   Memorials may be made to Oak Forest United Methodist Church Building Fund, 11461 Old US Highway 52 Winston Salem NC 27107.
