Edna Fritts

Edna Smith Fritts, 86, formerly of W. Center St Ext., died Monday, December 08, at Lexington Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 11am Monday, December 15 at First United Methodist Church, by the Revs. Jamie Armstrong and Doug Rowe. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 am Monday in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Fritts was born March 4, 1928 in Davidson County to William Early Smith and Oleta Younts Smith. She was the former owner and operator of Edna’s Beauty Shop and a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Spruill-Wesley Sunday School Class. Edna devoted her life to her family and friends. She was longtime member of the Democratic Women of Davidson County and enjoyed traveling. Her husband, A. Kelvin Fritts, and a sister, Willie Mae Harrison, preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, William F. (Bill) Fritts and wife, Susan Godwin Fritts of Lexington; her daughter, Patricia Hartley and husband, James (Jim) Robert Hartley of Lexington; her grandchildren, Christie Hartley and husband, Scott Brown of Atlanta, GA, Carrie Hartley and husband, Marcus Kestler of Raleigh and Erin Fritts of Lexington; her great grandchildren, Thomas and Matthew Brown; her brother, John William “Bill” Smith and wife, RoseMary of Columbia, SC; and her sister, Sarah Frances Harrison of Denton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 310 S. Main St., Lexington NC 27292; Meals on Wheels, 11 Vance St., Lexington NC 27292 or to Crisis Ministries, 107 E. First Ave, Lexington NC 27292.
