Edna Hood Simmons

Edna Simmons age 92 of Oriole Drive, Lexington passed away Sunday July 5, 2015 at her home. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday July8, 2015 at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Rev. Frankie Matthews officiating services. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home. A second service will be held 11:00 Friday July 10, 2015 at Parkersburg Baptist Church, in Roseboro North Carolina, with Pastor Brian Strickland officiating services. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday at Butler Funeral Home. Mrs. Simmons was born December 3, 1922 in Wayne County North Carolina to Harvey Leon Hood Sr. and Martha Edgerton Hood. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph Edward Simmons, three daughters; Gail Keith, Verbie Jordan and Diana Lynn Simmons, an infant son, three brothers; Harvey Hood Jr, Floyd Hood, Thomas Allen Hood, and an infant brother Joe Carlton Hood. Surviving are three sons; Donald Simmons and wife Susan, Butch Simmons both of Lexington, and Tommy Simmons of Walkertown, three brothers; J.B. Hood of Florence South Carolina, Roy Hood of Toronto Canada, and James Hood of Irvington Kentucky, three sisters; Thelma Williams of Roseboro North Carolina, Eunice Carter of Turkey North Carolina and Annette Robinson of Rose Hill North Carolina, as well as 26 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren.
