Edna Thomason Watkins, 85, of Sunnyside Drive, died Thursday, July 10, 2014, at her home. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2014, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2014, at the funeral home. Mrs. Watkins was born April 3, 1929, in Davidson County, to Ernest William Thomason and Annie Thaxton Thomason. She was a seamstress at Edgewood Apparel prior to retirement. She was a member of Heaven’s Gate Full Gospel Church. She enjoyed cooking for others and having children in her home. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Edman Thomason, Bill Thomason, and James Thomason; and sisters, Fanny Everhart, Rose Ellen Everhart, Henry Etta Leonard and Violet Young and Fanny Sue Yountz, Ernest William Thomason Jr., Henretta Leonard, James Thomason, Nellie Leonard and Edmond Thomason. Surviving are her loving husband of 47 years, Paul Watkins of the home; son, Gerald Bradley and wife Charlotte, Paul Edward Walsh and wife Robin of High Point, Wayne Lemar Young of Lexington; daughters, Jeanette Bradley of Spartanburg, SC, and Ann Watkins of Winston-Salem; and sister, Peggy Milliam, eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
