Edna Lucille Young

Edna Lucille Young, 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Lexington Health Care Center. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Madison Heights Free Will Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Young was born September 24, 1915, in Statesville. She was a great inspiration to her family and many friends and was loved by everyone, including her nursing home family at Lexington Health Care Center. She had an outspoken testimony. Even until her last words, she was always praising our Lord Jesus Christ, whom she lifted up everyday. Her favorite phrase was “Nothing sweeter than to love you.” She had 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Grady Pharr; husband, Joseph Erastus Young; and three sons, Eugene Young, Joseph Cecil “J. C.” Young, and Robbie Young. Surviving are three children, Geraldine Rogers of Lexington, Ronald Young of Montgomery, Ala., and Sue Johnson of Southmont. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home.
