Edom Tart Smith, 82, of Lexington, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at his home.

A funeral service will be held 2 PM Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with Pastor Mark Blair officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Saturday prior to the service.

Mr. Smith was born November 29, 1940, in Sampson County, to Cydney James Smith and Gertrude Bullard Smith. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Welcome and retired from Stone Container after 30 years of service. Edom attended Morganton School for the Deaf. In his free time, he greatly enjoyed spending time with family. In addition to his parents, Edom was preceded in death by five brothers, Reuben Smith, Wiley Smith, Chester Smith, Lester Smith, and Earl Smith; three sisters, Christine Bledsoe, Iula Starr, and Linda Johnson; and one great-grandchild.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Patricia Reeder Smith of the home; two daughters, Amy Fink (Scott) of Harmony, and Tammy Kiger (Wesley) of Lexington; three brothers, Joe Smith (Janey) of Roseboro, Jack Smith (Brenda) of Roseboro, and Hurley Smith (Betty Sue) of Roseboro; one sister, Lura Phelps of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County 200 Hospice Way Lexington, NC 27292
