Edward Francis Bowers

Edward Francis Bowers, 87, of Stratford Road, died Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at Hinkle Hospice House. The funeral will be 12 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010, at Holly Grove Lutheran Church, where he was a member, with Pastor John Mocko officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the service at the church. Mr. Bowers was born April 20, 1923, in Davidson County, to George Edward Bowers and Molly Conrad Bowers. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 8, Disabled American Veterans, and a member of Lutheran Men’s Mission. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Allen Bowers on July 30, 2003, and several brothers and sisters. Surviving are daughters, Bonnie Mize, Frances Berrier and husband Larry and Mary Ellen Hinson and husband, Doody, all of Lexington; grandchildren, Pam Harris and husband, Dale, Marc Mize and wife, Angie, Emily Bryant and husband, Nathan, Laurie Berrier, and Debbie Hudson and husband, Scott; eight great-grandchildren; and brother, Willie Bowers.
