Edward Darrell Burkhart

Edward Darrell Burkhart, age 90 of Tussey Road, Lexington passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Hinkle Hospice House. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at Second Reformed United Church of Christ with Rev. Kelly Barefoot officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the church parlor from 10:00 until 11:00 AM, prior to the service. Darrell was born in Davidson County September 26, 1924 to Robert Odell and Nellie Gray Styers Burkhart. He was a member of Second Reformed United Church of Christ and a retired self-employed building contractor. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucy Bean Burkhart; sisters, Ruth Craver, Zelma Leonard and Hazel Crowell; brothers, Sco, Blake and Jack Burkhart and daughter-in-law, Martha Jean Burkhart. Surviving are daughters, Camille Burkhart of the home, Karon Morgan (Perry) and Libby Calvert (Andy) all of Lexington; sons, Ed Darrell Burkhart, Jr., of Advance and Stewart Burkhart (Kay) of Lexington; grandchildren, Edward D. (Ted) Burkhart, III (Elizabeth), Jennifer Anthony (Tim), Keith Burkhart (Mandi), Craig Burkhart (Patricia), Matthew Morgan, Kelly Cook (Paul) and Cole and Katie Calvert; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Ricky Burkhart.
