Edward Isaac Coffman

Edward Isaac Coffman 96 passed into the presence of his Saviour on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Union Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Harris and Rev. David Beverly officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.  A visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.  Edward was born on May 16, 1917 in Page County, VA to Isaac Lewis and Mamie Pearl Miller Coffman. He was a longtime member of Union Grove Baptist Church, Lexington, NC. He honorably served his country in the US Army, WWII. He served with the 30th Topographical Engineers and was a Staff Sgt. He was able to travel with his Army comrades on a Flight of Honor trip to Washington, D.C. to view the WWII Memorial. He was a retired building inspector with the Fairfax County VA School System. Preceding him in death, his parents, his loving wife of 64 years, Virginia Dare Pryor Coffman and an infant daughter, Sara; brothers, Denzil Coffman, Randolph Coffman; sister, Rae Coffman Griffith.  Surviving are a son, Kenneth Coffman of Auburn, GA; daughter, Carole Beverly (Bernard ) of Winston-Salem; sister-in-law, Marie Coffman of Newport Richie, FL; grandchildren, David Beverly (Lora) of LA, their children, Rachel, Nicole, David, Jr., Megan and Sean Beverly; Brian Beverly (Debbie) of Lexington, their children, Bethany, Brandon, Benjamin and Brian Beverly; Jeff Beverly (Wendy) of Lexington, their children Emily, Sarah and Michael Beverly; Julie Taylor (Greg) of Locust Grove, GA, their son, Noah; Brad Coffman (Rhonda) of Statham, GA, their daughter, Alexis Coffman; Nick Coffman (Jennifer) of Auburn, GA, and Matt Coffman (Amy) of Bethlehem, GA.  He was a dedicated member of the North Davidson Gideon Camp. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Gideon International, P. O. Box 285, Lexington, NC 27293-0285.The family wishes to thank Mallard Ridge Assisted Living and Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Winston-Salem for their loving care.  Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
