Edward “Ed” Franklin Hege, 88 of Lexington Health Care and formerly of Sixth Street, Lexington died Thursday (5-18-2006) evening at Lexington Health Care.
Mr. Hege was born May 18, 1918 in Davidson County to Julis E. Hege and Clemmie Hinkle Hege. He was retired from Burlington Industries. He was a member of St. Andrews United Church of Christ, a veteran of the US Army having served in WWII. During his service he fought in the Battle of the Buldge, earning the Bronze Star and several other prestigous military medals. He was also a member of VFW Post 3074 and American Legion Post 8. He was preceded in death by his wife Earsley Mize Hege who passed away in 1996.
Surviving are his son Jack Hege and wife Martha of Lexington, granddaughters Leigh Shoaf and husband Carlton; and Allyson Copley and husband David, greatgrandsons John C. “Trey” Shoaf III; Brannon Michael Shoaf; Preston Edward Shoaf; greatgranddaughters Carleigh Makaye Ward; Ally Blythe Copley; and special sister-in-law Kitty Mize.
A graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday; May 21, 2006 at Lexington City Cemetery with military rites by VFW Post 3074. The service will be conducted by Rev. Tommy Wilson. Burial will follow in the Lexington City Cemetery
The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM Saturday at the home of Carlton and Leigh Shoaf.
