Eddie was born on January 15, 1958 to John E. and Maxine King of Lexington. Surviving are his wife, Joni Helmstetler King of the home, and his daughter, Sarah Elizabeth King, of Charlotte. Eddie was a lifelong member of Beck’s Reformed Church where he was a regular member of the church’s cook team and a CIA Class member. He recently retired from a 41-year career at Duke Energy. Eddie is survived by two sisters, Jane Hale of Georgia, Jennifer Firquin (Kevin) of Lexington, mother-in-law Janie Helmstetler, brother-in-law Tim Helmstetler, six nephews and four nieces.
Eddie was a retired captain of the Central Fire Department. He enjoyed his antique Jeep Commando, attending Carolina Panther games, playing softball, riding his 4-wheeler, and a spending time with his family. He followed his faith by routinely attending church and Sunday School while humbly helping others through a quiet servant leader life-style. During his engineering career with Duke Energy he was routinely deployed to assist in the designing and restoring of power lines after storms throughout the Eastern United States. He had many life-long friends that brought great joy to his life and their support over the past few years has been greatly appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Beck’s Reformed Church general fund or building fund.
