Edwin “Ed” Rock, 81, of Cross Road, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at his home.
The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home and at 4 p.m. Saturday at Humphrey’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Paint Bank Community Cemetery.
Mr. Rock was born in Laurel Branch, W.Va., September 19, 1925, to Julius Rock Sr. and Anna Dankenberger-Rock. He was a blender for Lorillard, Inc. and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. Mr. Rock was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Clarkson Rock, who died February 21, 2006; sons, Earl Joseph Reardon and William David Reardon; brothers, Joe Rock, Jake Rock, Henry Rock, Edward Rock, Mike Rock and Julius Rock; sisters, Margaret Rock and Mary Rock.
Surviving are sisters, Anna Rayhill of Covington, Va., and Eva Johnson of Richmond, Va.; sister-in-laws, Irene Clarkson of Paint Bank, Va., and Ruth Custer of Salem, Va., and Mary Clarkson of Whitville, Va.; daughter-in-law, Susan Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Richard Phillips and William David Haynes; great-grandchild, Emily Marie Haynes; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Robin Yakley and Lois Brown, both of Lexington.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
