Mrs. Elinor Church Jones, age 87 went home to be with her Lord on Saturday May 26, 2018 at Westchester Manor Home in High Point, NC.   Mrs. Jones was born May 2, 1931 in Forsyth County to Frederick Frances Church and Lenore McKinnie Church. She was the widow of Otis A. Jones; they were married for fifty seven years. A homemaker and a member of Vernon Forest Baptist Church. She was the co-editor and illustrator of her husband’s book “Following in Their Footsteps – Land Surveying in North Carolina”, and was an accomplished artist and exhibited her work many times over the years. Elinor enjoyed swimming, sketching and singing. She sang in several church choirs, the Messiah, Maids of Melody and the director of the children’s choir. Elinor graduated from Richard J. Reynolds High School and attended High Point University and worked in the Register of Deeds of Forsyth County. She was a friend to all and loved to share her faith in her Lord and Savior.   A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, June 1 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Road, Winston Salem officiated by Rev. Warren Miller and Chaplin Roland Cavanaugh. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.   The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 PM Friday prior to the service.   She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Otis Albert Jones and her brother Fred F. Church Jr.   She is survived by her daughters; Patti Varner Miller and husband Warren, of Lexington NC and Natalie Jones Foster and husband Stephen, of Reidsville NC; her grandchildren Jessica Jackson and husband Kevin, Rachael Owen, Caleb Foster, Linnie Foster and her great-grandchildren Rance Jackson and Rylan Jackson; a brother Richard Church, sister Carolyn McKinnon, half-sister Glenda Smith, a number of nieces, nephews and several special friends.   Memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607, or Hospice of the Triad, 1801 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262.     Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is serving the Family.   Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net.
