Elise Daphne Cooper Brown, 86 of Fairview Drive, passed away Monday morning at Alston Brook after several years of declining health.
A graveside service will be held at the Lexington City Cemetery at 3:00 pm Wednesday (February 4, 2015) by the Rev. Frankie Matthews. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:30 pm prior to the graveside service.
Mrs. Brown was born October 19, 1928, in Davidson County to James G. Cooper and Ola Justice Cooper. She retired with 32 years of service from Mallory Battery/Duracell, and was a member of Sheets Memorial Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Grady Brown, and sister, Virtle Cooper Welch.
Surviving are her sons Mike Brown and wife, Lynn, of Lexington; Jimmy Brown and wife, Doris, of Mocksville; grandchildren Katie Decker and husband, Shane; Sarah Watkins and husband, Matt, all of Lexington; Robert Gosnell of Atlanta, GA; Kim Yancey of Greensboro; great-grandchildren Callie Decker, Lula Grace Decker and Austin Watkins; her sister, Linda Yarbrough and husband, Bruce, of Lexington; her brother, Steve Cooper and wife, Diane, of Mobile, AL, brother-in-law, Marshall Brown of Lexington
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that memorials be made to Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, 210 Cotton Road, Lexington, NC.
