Elizabeth Harwell Cecil

Elizabeth Harwell Cecil, 95, of W. US Highway 64, passed away, Thursday, August 03, 2017, at Hinkle Hospice House.  The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 7, 2017, at Shiloh United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with Pastor David Kelley and her nephew, Pastor Bill Harwell, officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, August 6, at Davidson Funeral Home.  Mrs. Cecil was born October 1, 1921, in Madison County, GA., to William Franklin Harwell and Maggie Evalela Byrd Harwell. She had a love for dogs which carried over to her business, Cecil’s Bulldogs, where she nurtured many bulldog companions for other families to enjoy. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Lindsay Cecil Sr.; many brothers; and many sisters.  Surviving are son, Samuel Cecil Jr. (Chris) of Lexington; foster daughter, Diane Snider of Lexington; grandchildren, Karri Cecil Blackmon (James Randall), and Zane Grey Cecil (Inna); great-grandchildren, Justin Ryan Cecil, Gabriel Cecil Blackmon, and Caleb Garrett Blackmon; and sister, Mary Wright.  Memorials may be directed to Cancer Services of the Carolinas, 25 W. 6th Avenue, Lexington, NC 27292
