Mrs. Elizabeth Anne Sims Dawson, 76, of Kyndall Run Drive, died Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at her home, with her husband by her side.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 25, at First Baptist Church of Welcome, with Dr. Chris Griggs officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.

She was born on August 28, 1949, in Mobile, AL, to the late Eric Otis Sims, Jr. and Martha Anna Monroe Sims.

Mrs. Dawson was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Welcome and enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching children’s Sunday School. She and her husband shared a love for traveling and adventure. Her favorite place to visit was the beach. She also enjoyed volunteering her time to Fancy Finds, where she painted furniture that was then sold to help Baptist Children’s Homes of NC. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her granddaughter. Mrs. Dawson will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Diane S. Condry and Stephanie S. Hudgens.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, G. Edwin Dawson, of the home; their daughter, Zoe Blevins; a granddaughter, Layla Blevins; a brother, Eric Sims, III (Charissa); a sister, Jane S. McHaney (Denny); a number of nieces and nephews, Ryan McHaney (Shelby), Chelsea Sims, Caleb Sims, Hannah Sims, Holden Sims, Stephanie Litwins, Tara Langraf; and a great-niece, Lindsay Abbott.
