Elizabeth Hilliard Hatley, 73, of Sunbridge Nursing Home, formerly of Old U.S. Highway 52, gracefully departed her earthly home to follow the heavenly path God laid for her Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at the nursing home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, by the Rev. Barry Surratt. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hatley was born in Chatham County on Aug. 9, 1932, to Guy Hilliard and Daisy Hart Hilliard. She was a retired clerk at Conrad-Hinkle and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Monroe Hatley, in October 1991; one brother, Paul Hilliard; and two sisters, Margaret Lowe and Reva Tysinger.
Surviving are her son, Dean Hatley and his wife, Frankie, of Mount Airy; two daughters, Patsy Wray and her husband, Rickey, and Rhonda Gabard and her husband, Clayton, all of Lexington; five grandchildren, Wendy Underwood, Erick Wray, Steven Berrier, Camille Ellis and Mandy Bazemore; five great-grandchildren, Katelynn, Jada, Kira, Hunter and Tanner; two brothers, Roy Hilliard of Lexington and William Hilliard of Burgaw; and a special friend, Bill Nifong of Lexington.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
