Elizabeth "Lib" Huband Leonard

Elizabeth "Lib" Huband Leonard, 91, of Westover Drive, died Monday morning, Dec. 25, 2006, at Lexington Health Care. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev Dr. Lee Zehmer officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Lib was born in Forsyth County on Dec. 20, 1915, to William Claude Huband and Elizabeth Dupree Huband. She attended public schools, and three grades at Old West End School, where her father graduated. She graduated from Reynolds High School in 1933. She attended Salem College, Class of 1938, and studied music, piano and organ under Mrs. Sebring. Lib was very active in the Presbyterian church until her marriage, moving to Lexington at that time. She was active in the BPW, past President of the Women's Optimist Club and the Women's Club, along with hobby bridge. She taught in Lexington City Schools for 25 years. She enjoyed all kinds of crafts. When Gerald Ford was president, she was asked to make corn shuck dolls for the White House Christmas Tree, representing North Carolina. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was very active both locally and at the Presbytery level. She loved children and working with them. Her greatest joy was volunteering at Lexington Memorial Hospital, where she had over 5000 hours. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Jack Huband and William (Bill) Huband Jr.; and a grandson Brantley Williams. Surviving are her husband, Clifton M. "Cliff" Leonard of the home; a son, Clifton (Macky) Leonard Jr. of New York City; a daughter, Jane (Penny) Williams and her husband, Roger, of Hot Springs, Ark.; grandchildren, Mellisa Tellez and her husband, Joel, of Nashville, Tenn., Michael Williams and his wife, Erica, of Hot Springs, Ark., and Colby Williams and his wife, Sherrie, of Russellville, Ark.; and great-grandchildren Joshua, Blake and Lane Williams and Jeremy, Jacob and Julieanna Tellez. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
