Elizabeth Maxine Parks King

Elizabeth Maxine Parks King, 89, of NC Highway 47, died Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Hinkle Hospice House. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 18 at Beck’s Reformed Church with the Rev. James Byars officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 17. Mrs. King was born May 3, 1926, in Davidson County, to Harvey Monroe Parks and Bessie Miller Parks. She was retired from United Furniture Company. Mrs. King graduated from Greensboro Women’s College and was a substitute teacher for the Davidson County School System at Central Davidson High School where many students thought she was the best. She was a member of the Ladies Auxilliary for the Amvets Post 13, VFW Post 3074, and American Legion Post 8. She was a Sunday school children’s teacher for over 60 years at Beck’s Reformed Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, John Edwin King, who died July 30, 2015; brothers, Lloyd Parks, James Parks, and Dolan Parks; and sisters, Kathleen Everhart and Beatrice Allred. Surviving are son, Edwin King and wife Joni; daughters, Jennifer Firquin and husband Kevin and Jane Ogletree and husband Bill of Clermont, Ga.; grandchildren, Seth Firquin and wife Sarah, Sarah King, Greg Gray and wife Paulette, Lori Gray, Jason Hale and wife Tasha, and Jacob Hale and wife Tabitha; great-grandchildren, Tyler Hale, Cooper Hale and Cannon Hale. Memorials may be made to Becks Reformed Church, 2845 Becks Church Road, Lexington, NC 27292
