Ellard Shoaf Essick, age 88 of North NC Highway 150, Lexington passed away Sunday (May 30, 2010) at Lexington Health Care. Funeral service will be 3:00 pm Tuesday (June 1, 2010) at Friendship United Methodist Church with Rev.Patrick Snow officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship United Methodist Cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Monday night and at other times at the residence.
Ellard was born in Davidson County, October 16, 1921 to Emery Julian Essick and Mary Ida Shoaf Essick. He was a retired carpenter with Craver and Essick Contruction. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church and a veteran of the US Army having served during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Letha Veigh Hege Essick, December 1, 2004, sisters: Jean Leonard and Blanche Hanes : brothers, Frank, Harold and Gilmer Essick.
Surviving are; two daughters, Shelia Cope and husband Donald of Lexington and Donna Jones and husband David of Winston Salem; two sons, Julian Craig Essick and wife Joyce and Ellard Jackson Essick all of Lexington; nine grandchildren, Brad Essick and fiancee’ Ruth Ann Tarleton, Tracy Beck and husband Sammie, Richie Essick and wife Lynn, Timmy Walser and wife Kim, Angie Cooke, Kristie Landrum and husband Eddie, Teresa Jones, Donell Cope all of Lexington and Sharee Wilson and husband Ryan of Florida; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Bonnie Kirk and husband Bobby of Lexington and one brother Arlie Essick of Welcome.
